Major props to Elizabeth Lessner and her 'family' of businesses! Betty's is a particular favorite of mine and it's great to know some of the back story and I'm especially pleased to know the employees are in such caring hands. Support Local!

I am Chinese, and having grown up in Taiwan and San Francisco, I am usually reluctant to try midwest Asian restaurants for fear of disappointment. My recent lunch at Ying's was a very pleasant surprise! My parents, visiting from San Francisco, agreed that the Yum-Yum appetizers, dumplings and noodles were all excellent and very authentic. Definitely go for their strengths - the northern China specialties such as pan fried pork buns, san-xian dumplings and beef noodle soup. Skip the typical take-out items, which are probably mediocre wherever you go. The proprietor was friendly, quick and very helpful with suggestions.

Yeah, the dumplings -- the pork ones, especially -- are the real reason for going to Ying's. The tea is great, too; by far the best selection and quality I've seen in Columbus.

I'll admit that the rest of the menu is hit-and-miss, but the steamed dumplings are authentic, homemade and delicious. One reviewer complained that they're doughy, but that's the way they serve them in China.

We order from Ying's about once a week, and that's all we ever get. If that's all they served, they'd still have a reason to exist.

hmmm. i've never gotten take out from ying's -- nor have i had any of the shrimp dishes -- but my experiences dining-in have been completely different. attentive, congenial service. and the food -- pork dumplings, especially -- has been delicious.

This place is nothing to brag about. We placed an order to go and waited nearly 30 minutes before getting up to leave. Then someone rushed over and said that they didn't know we were waiting (huh? we placed an order "to go"). Finally, we take our lukewarm dinner home. The soups were decent but the sesame shrimp was awful. They used Seapak breaded shrimp (the kind you buy at Kroger, with the tails still on), and stir fried it with sauce. I could have done this at home. I just feel like they're taking advantage of people who they "believe" don't know a thing about Chinese cooking. I know authentic when I eat it, and this place is not authentic. Waste of money and a huge disappointment. I really feel insulted that they cooked their shrimp dishes this way too.

dave. went up for super, unbelievable $1 latte day on the 18th. $1 well spent. crimson cup's sort of an interesting story, i think, especially with this shift into owning/running a shop, as opposed to just training. been out to neutral grounds in hilliard before, which is crimson-cup trained, and their product's great. plus they have like a secret salon inside. my best-latte-in-town award still has to go to luck bros. in grandview -- hands down.
